Jigawa Agricultural Agency Unveils Ambitious Vision

The Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agency (JATA) has formally inaugurated its operational mandate with a one-day intensive induction training for its core staff.
Addressing the team, the Director General of the Agency, Dr. Saifullahi Umar, outlined a sweeping vision designed to redefine Jigawa’s economic landscape.
“Our direction is governed by a singular vision: To be the primary catalyst that transforms Jigawa’s farming sector into a globally recognized hub of innovation and commercial excellence,” Dr. Umar declared.

He detailed the agency’s foundational mandates as established under the JATA Bill, which focus on three strategic pillars Strategic Planning & Analytics, to drive evidence-based policy reforms, Strategic Value Chain Development, to solve systemic bottlenecks from production to market; and Climate-Smart Innovation, to build a resilient agricultural system that safeguards long-term food security.
The DG emphasized that the state’s leadership is fully invested in the transformation agenda.

“His Excellency , Mallam Umar A. Namadi, fca the Executive Governor, as the Chairman of the Agricultural Transformation Council, has given us his full support saying that We are the architects of a future where Jigawa does not just feed itself, but feeds the nation and the world,” Dr. Umar said.
In a direct charge to the staff, the Director General implored the staff to embody the agency’s pioneering spirit.

“As you begin this induction, I ask you to live these values daily. Engage, challenge the status quo, and embrace the gravity of this mission,” he added.
He concluded with a bold aspiration: “Let us make the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agency the gold standard for agricultural reform in Africa.”
Dr Saifullahi Umar commended the effort of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as well as Propcom+ for their continued support.

The induction training is the first in a series of capacity-building initiatives aimed at equipping JATA personnel with the skills and mindset required to execute its complex mandates.

The event marks a critical step in Jigawa State’s strategic plan to leverage its agricultural potential for economic diversification, job creation, and enhanced food security in the face of climatic and market challenges.
